Meerschaum-Lined Briar Italy Bent Billiard – This unbranded Italian Meerschaum-lined Billiard was donated by a generous person from his father’s estate pipes. The Meer-lining in this attractive Bent Billiard has seen better days with serious fissures running throughout the chamber. This indicates a few things. The pipe was a favorite with the use he had. Second, I’ve reinforced/repaired Meer-linings with the ‘Olde Recipe’ I discovered some years back. This beautifully grained pipe can serve again! Length: 5 3/4 inches, Height: 2 inches, Rim width: 1 1/4 inches, Chamber width: 3/4 inches, Chamber depth: 1 3/4 inches.
Ben Wade Royal Grain Hand Made in Denmark Freehand – This beautiful Preben Holm Ben Wade Freehand was donated by a generous person from his father’s estate pipes. The vertical grain is stellar brought out by the Pickaxe shape. The Freehand motto, ‘Follow the grain’ was followed in the presentation of this Freehand. Length: 6 3/4 inches, Height: 3 1/2 inches (at highest peak), Plateau width: 2 1/8 inches (at widest point), Chamber width: 1 inch, Chamber depth: 2 1/4 inches (mid plateau), Weight: 84g.
Ben Wade Deluxe Hand Made in Denmark Freehand – This beautiful Freehand was donated by a generous person from his father’s estate pipes. Ben Wade Freehands were produced by the Danish artisan, Preben Holm, who is known to have pioneered the ‘Freehand’ movement with the mantra: ‘Follow the Grain!’ Length: 6 5/8 inches, Height: 2 1/2 inches (at highest peak), Plateau width: 2 1/4 inches (at widest point), Chamber width: 1 inch, Chamber depth: 2 3/16 inches (mid plateau), Weight: 72g.
Vauen Dr Perl 3127 Churchwarden – I found this Churchwarden in Sozopol, Bulgaria, at the Antikvar. One obvious challenge is his bit which was broken off. A new Churchwarden stem will be mounted during the restoration process. Length “10 inches”, Height 2 inches, Rim width: 1 3/16 inches, Chamber width: 3/4 inches, Chamber depth: 1 5/8 inches.
