A Drucquer & Sons of Berkeley Blasted Cherrywood – The story of Drucquer & Sons Tobacconist started in 1841 in London but in 1924 the company crossed over the Atlantic Ocean and continued a quality tradition in California. The tobacconist not only sold pipes, but also quality tobacco blends were created, some of which continue to be produced today recreated by G.L. Pease. The pipe has a classic but rustic feel with the Cherrywood shape. The dark, blasted surface resembles English pipes to me. More can be read about the restoration process at this LINK. The dating of this pipe is 2005. The handmade shape is both large, long and unique. I dubbed the shape a ‘Dublinesque’ Lovat which which combines the characteristics of a Canadian Lovat with the long round stem and saddle stem with the Dublin’s conical canted bowl. The dark grain has come out nicely with the crown being the rim that was in bad shape. More can be read about the restoration process at this LINK. A Ben Wade Deluxe Hand Made Denmark Freehand – The Ben Wade Deluxe Hand Made came from the shop of the well-known Danish artisan, Preben Holm. We don’t know if he handled this pipe, but the word is that he inspected each pipe and often did the finish work himself. This Danish Freehand is a collector and truly follows the Freehand mantra: ‘Follow the grain!’ The vertical grain lives up to this billing and the plateaus provide a relaxed rustic vibe, and the honey-marbled acrylic stem completes the ensemble with flare. A HANDMADE IN DENMARK Rusticated Freehand – This Handmade in Denmark Freehand is a beauty. We do not know which Danish craftsman fashioned this pipe, but the quality is evident. The bird’s eye grain is compressed and emerges over the plateau which is the result of diagonal grain surfacing. The shape shows off the curved plateau and the subtle sculpting is a nice touch. I wish I did. I have several Peretti pipes in the “Help me!” Basket but I’m in the US now and my work table is back in Bulgaria. It will be next February before I could get to it. I have several Oom Paul’s, a half bent Billiard and an Extra large straight Billiard available to restore but not until February! You can see these pipes pictured on my restoration of a Large Full Egg from that same Peretti lot (https://thepipesteward.com/2017/08/10/revitalizing-a-distinctive-l-j-peretti-of-boston-large-full-bent-egg/). Let me know if you can wait!

Thanks, Brian. No, I don’t have any Peterson Oom Pauls in my stores. I do have one Peretti Oom Paul Sitter left which you can see in my section on this site, ‘For Pipe Dreamers Only’. Take a look, and read the information about commissioning a pipe there. Let me know!

Yeah I would love to see that pipe when you are done(Peretti oom Paul). I don’t think there is much doubt I will want it. Also the Jobey bent dublin is one I am also interested in. What do I have to do to get the ball rolling on the oom Paul and both if possible? Let me know what is next! Thanks Brian

Hey Steve, did you look also in the “For Pipe Dreamers Only!” collection? I have a few hundred pipes to browse through. What comes to my work table are the pipes that people ‘commission’ from that page. Take a look there. My favorite is Lane BCA that I buy from PipesandCigars.com. https://thepipesteward.com/pipedreamers-only-info/

Every time I come here, the store is sold out. Is there any way I can get on a list or something, to get a chance to actually BUY something from you? Thanks in advance Sir

Thanks for reaching out! 99.9% of the pipes sold have been commissioned. The ‘commissioner’ has the first opportunity to purchase the pipe before it’s available for others. Check out this info: https://thepipesteward.com/pipedreamers-only-info/
